Today at the intermediate class of my Japanese school in Mississauga we talked about the differences between Canadian houses and Japanese houses in Japanese.

Some of the students had experienced home stays in Japan and one of them has lived in Japan for a few years, so we talked a lot about that topic.

There are many differences between the houses.

I don’t know why so many Japanese houses don’t have central heating even though they have high technology toilets!

Japanese class in Oakville

Yesterday at the children’s class of my Japanese class in Oakville I read the essays about winter break of my students. Almost all of the children got high technology gadgets like laptops or Kobo eReaders. I know that is because they are good children, but when I compare what I got for Christmas when I was a child, I feel like I am now on a different planet. But anyway I think it is really good for the children to get used to using them.

Japanese school in Mississauga

Many students in my Japanese school in Mississauga sent me Christmas cards. I am happily reading them and reminding them now. Many students went to Japan this year too, and sent me cards from there. I smiled at the photos that they took in Japan.

In spite of the tsunami disaster in this spring, Japan is reconstructing firmly. That is because of the help of many foreign people. I’m really thankful for them.

I want Japan to completely reconverand to become independent and contribute to the world more.

Japanese class in Oakville

Many of my students in the Japanese class in Oakville gave me Christmas Cards and gifts. I thanked them. One of my students gave me a pretty calender with Japanese pictures and Haikus (Japanese poetry). I put them in my room and they are pretty.

Many things happened in my country this year. When the tsunami disaster happened this spring, I was so shocked and sad, but also amazed to know that Japanese people are so patient and polite even with the disaster. I am so happy and be proud to be Japanese.

I also amazed that many foreign people warmly helped and cheered for Japan. I sincerely thank them.

This autumn there were 50% more students than usual. Next year I will keep doing my best to present good classes to my students.

I love every class at my Japanese class in Oakville. Each class is so unique. The special feature of my Saturday 10:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. class is that all of the students are girls. Today I had my students do a conversation drill following this pattern, 「・・・が好きなんです。どうしたらいいですか？I love [name]. What should I do? 」「・・・たほうがいいですよ。It would be good if you do…」. My students made up many sentences like 「Robert Downey Jr が好きなんです。どうしたらいいですか。I love Robert Downey Jr. What should I do?」「デートに誘ったほうがいいです。It would be good if you invited him out on a date.」「Hugh Jackman が好きなんです。どうしたらいいですか。」「電話番号を教えたほうがいいです。It would be good if you gave him your phone number.」「Chris Hemsworth が好きなんです. Hibari Kyoyaが好きなんです。」etc. That was fun.

Japanese school in Mississauga

Last week one of the students of my Japanese school in Mississauga went to Tokyo Japan and watched a play staring Jun Matsumoto. Another student is planning to go to Japan with his wife next October because he has enough air miles. I wish I could go back to Japan because my mother is getting older. Anyway I’ll work harder and try to take my family to my hometown next summer!

One of my students at my Japanese school in Mississauga is a professional painter and very good at drawing pictures. Last week I gave everyone in my class homework to draw manga in Japanese. Her manga was beautiful and very well drawn.

Tanoshii Japanese school online course

We are currently making the Tanoshii Japanese school online course. I have made all of the plans for the basic course by the end of this spring. The editor and cartoonist are working hard and I am supervising them. I am contacting my internet adviser and planning to start January,2012.

One of my students at Japanese class in Oakville found a Japanese girl through a dating website. My student often asks me to translate what she is saying to him. I think it is good that he is able to practice his Japanese. He can learn not only about the Japanese language but also Japanese culture.

I have a few classes with young children at my Japanese class in Oakville.Whenever I teach Japanese to the children, I remember when my children were young like them. But when girls turn 11 or 12 years old, they change. When they were under 10 years old, I taught Japanese with dolls and toys, but they out grew them. I have to change my approach.
